DON'T FORGET MY LITTLE DAISIES!

Our last meeting of the month is Tuesday, November 22nd.
We have a treat scheduled for our girls during this time.  Our Juniors & Cadettes do what we call a "Brunswick Experience" where we go out and experience what Brunswick has to offer.  Last month we went to Yomania....Yum!  This month we are asking everyone to join us at:

Color Me Happy (downtown across from Fox Pizza)

4-5:30 p.m.

We will meet at Color Me Happy and NOT the church.
Bring $6 and the troop account will pay $6 per girl.  Each girl will choose up to a $12 piece of pottery to paint.  If she wants a more expensive piece, she can add her own money to purchase her favorite piece.  If you have already bought a piece and never finished it, you can take it in at that time.

Please RSVP so we can give Color Me Happy an accurate count.

AND....

THANK YOU TO ALL THAT WERE INVOLVED WITH COOKIES FOR COPS! WHAT A GREAT SUCCESS AND FUN TIME TOGETHER AS A GROUP! I AM SURE EVERYONE THAT TASTES A BITE OF A COOKIE WILL ENJOY EVERY LITTLE BIT!  MAY OUR EFFORTS AND THOUGHTS/PRAYERS BE FOREVER WITH THOSE THAT HELP KEEP US SAFE!

Veteran's Day Parade

Hello my little budding buddies!  I hope you have enjoyed the cold weather here lately!   I was going through all my vacation pictures and remembered....I didn't finish telling you ALL about our week!  No worries......let's get this past Saturday posted and then I promise to back on sometime this week to post the rest of my Williamsburg pictures!

Now.............................ON TO THE MARCH!

Thank YOU to all the soldiers, past and present, that have put your lives out there so we may live free. I can not  imagine the pain and loneliness one must feel to let a loved one go and fight for those they do not know. Mothers & Fathers that have let go of sons...wives of husbands...and children of daddies.  I want to say thank you! Thank you for the freedom that you unselfishly give. With PRIDE and RESPECT - I give my utmost admiration.....THANK YOU, soldiers, for defending our nation!

Thank you, also, GIRLS SCOUT TROOP 30024 for stepping up and putting one foot in front of the other in support during the parade!  Yes, it was a brisk walk from here to there...and back around to here again :) - but you did it ...and did it with pride! I thank you too! Thank you for being an example of grace, and love.  The gleam of light that flickered in the Veteran's eyes when asked to have a picture with us was something I will never forget.  If we could only get inside their head to relive the agonies and pains of war.....they endure(ed) for OUR freedom....not one complaint of feet hurting...cold air...or hunger would have been uttered from our mouths.  What a joy and utmost respect I have for those that make MY country what it is....and pay the price to keep it free! Thank you Girl Scouts for making them feel it WAS worth it all!!!!

WHAT A WONDERFUL AND BLESSED DAY WE HAD!
THANK YOU GIRLS FOR MAKING THE DAY SPECIAL!

Four Scores and Twenty Years Ago....

Well, as you may know.....we are here in Williamsburg, Va.  There is so much history around us that it is overwhelming to take in at times. Historical Williamsburg is amazing! I have been here before, but it seems to have grown a lot!! We will be heading out tomorrow to explore all aspects of this wonderful place, but today we enjoyed the luxury of our Presidential Suit - Thanks to Andy and Kelly! :)

I hope you all had a safe and fun halloween. We were, obviously, here in VA and so the girls wanted to dress up and head to the office to see if their cuteness will allow for the workers to dig for some candy to share! Thank goodness they found some! LOL Can you imagine what would have happened to them if those toddlers and Riley got a hold of them! LOL

After they went to the office .....we had them come to each room door inside our suite! LOL - they did end up with plenty of goodies!!! Even some oranges, apples and juice boxes! LOL (Daddy is from the old school trick or treating. We are having a great time....and for them moment...we do not miss Brunswick! (with all due respect - we NEEDED a vacation)

Okay...well, my little daisies....enjoy your week in town...I will do the same here in Virginia! Keep checking in..and I will keep posting

Wait!!!!!!!  I forgot to post Alex's Garden! She has had some ups and downs with her little garden, but with a lot of love and care...look at what is sprouting!

Stop, Drop and Roll!

Well, today we went over our Fire Safety Checklist and what to do in case of emergencies!  I even had the girls do a test run of Fall and Crawl.....and ....Stop, Drop and Roll!  It was great! THEY were great!  They even had time to color their Sparky "Remember the Steps" worksheet.  What a great day!

Here are a couple things we didn't have time to go over....and some things we did have time to go over....but  set aside some time to talk to your Daisy about Fire Safety in your home:

1.  Make sure your home is safe and inspected for risks!
  • Electrical Cords are in good condition
  • Appliances and lights are plugged into separate electrical outlets
  • All smoke alarms work when tested by a grown up
  • All escape routes are clear of clutter
  • Curtains and other things that can burn are away from the stovetop
  • Portable space heaters are off whenever a grown up leaves the room and goes to sleep
  • The clothes dryer has a clean vent and filter (no lint build up)
  • A grown up always stays in the kitchen whenever food is cooking on the stovetop
  • All extension cords are used safely (not under carpets or across walking areas)
  • Portable space heaters are 3 feet away from anything that can burn
  • The furnace has been inspected in the past year
  • The chimney has been inspected and cleaned in the past year
2.  Remember the Steps
  • Floor Plan - HAVE YOUR DAISY DRAW OUT A BASIC FLOOR PLAN OF YOUR HOME. (you can access some plans/graphed on www.sparky.org)
  • Know two ways out - HAVE YOUR DAISY MARK TWO WAYS OUT ON HER FLOOR PLAN.
  • Smoke Alarms - HAVE YOUR DAISY MARK THE PLACES YOU HAVE A SMOKE ALARM IN YOUR HOUSE.
  • Meeting Place - HAVE YOUR DAISY, ALONG WITH YOU, DECIDE WHERE A GOOD MEETING PLACE SHOULD BE IN CASE THERE IS A FIRE AND YOU ALL GET OUT AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS OF THE HOUSE.  MARK IT/WRITE IT ON THEIR PLANS
  • Practice - HAVE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY PRACTICE YOUR FIRE SAFETY PLAN TOGETHER.  THIS COULD SAVE YOUR LIVES ONE DAY!
Bring A COPY of your safety plan to Girl Scouts meeting to share with us!  All girls that do...will receive their Fire Safety Patch!

SNACKS.................

Remember:  If you can or don't mind doing snack for a meeting, please let us know.  We need some help with this.  Mrs. Heather may be calling you or emailing you soon to put you on the list if you are able to help! Thank you in advance! :)

HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW.............

My congratulations to the ladies that have been working hard on their gardens!  I have another picture to add to our glorious gardens!  ASHLEY!

Good job Ashley!  I can't wait to see what they become!  Keep up the awesome work girls!  You will be proud of yourselves...if you are not already...at your accomplishment! Give yourself a big pat on the back!  Taking responsibility for a garden is hard....I myself do not have a green thumb! I am proud of you!

A couple of the parents asked if I have received pictures of their Daisy's garden.  If I have not posted their picture on the blog...then I did not get the pic!  Please resend them! I would love to see them...and know they are doing their part! What an amazing bunch of daisies we have!!!!!

Okay.....well, I am off to pack for my vacation next week.  I have a wonderful friend staying at the house while I am gone - (you always feel good with somone on the "force" looking after things while you are gone! - and taking care of my sweet boston terrier, Bre'Bre') - BUT  I will be logging in from time to time to check in and upload some pictures for you guys!  I am looking forward to a bit of R&R with the family.

Love and Prayers........and sprouting dust for your daisies!

New Info...

I have some new info from Melba...that pertains to my little daisies!  If you and your daisy are planning on participating in the CASA Caroling in December then you need to pay $1 for the patch.  This was sent out in an email today, so I am assuming that it needs to be paid soon.  Go ahead and get a jump on it - I say!

If I hear anything else that needs to be told.....I will amend my blog! Thanks for reading...and thanks for allowing Kelly and I to be a part of your child's life!
